TWO NICE GUYS DUEL IT OUT AT INFINEON

Steve Fox (Left), our faithful club president, and Alec Cohen (Right), hard worker by day and drag racer by Wednesday

Who would have thought these two club members would duel it out on the starting line at Infineon?

Standing tall among all the other Muscle Cars and oh ya, the Rice Rockets too.

This was a mid week club event and the attendance was down, but never the less, we had a great time.

Steve has been a club member for more than two years now and is enjoying his term as Club President

Steve purchased this fine looking 1972 Chevelle SS on New Years Eve 2001

This is an original Numbers Matching big block car. It has a 402 CI engine with a TH400 transmission and all the creature comforts, including AC. When purchased it only had 41,450 miles on it.

Basically, Steve stole the car from a little old lady who only drove it to church and back.
Steve first saw his dream car leaving the "Good Guys" car show in San Francisco. He got the attention of the driver and he asked to see the car later that day. After a short discussion and great offer, Steve was driving his own "catch me if you can red" big block 1972 SS Chevelle.

What a great story, thanks Steve for sharing it with us. You can see this great Chevelle, along with many others, cruising the roads of the Greater S.F. Bay Area. Steve plans to enter his California SS in up-coming car shows and cruises, and he is looking for a lady copilot to help him navigate the Bay Area Backroads. Catch him if you can!
This beauty is a one family owned car and was originally purchased by Al's Grandfather in 1971 from Key Chevrolet.

Al purchased the car from his Grandfather in 1994, shortly thereafter the timing belt broke and the classic sat for four years while Al saved money to restore it.

And what a fine job restoring the Chevelle he did. Just take a look at the list of extra goodies installed.

ZZ430 Small Block with 470 HP, Hydraulic Roller Camshaft and Rockers, 4 bolt main, 9.6:1 compression, B-Cool Aluminum radiator and electric fan. Complete MSD Ignition, 750cfm Holley four-barrel with vacuum secondaries, 12bolt posi differential, with 3:73 gears. The list goes on and on!!!
Here is a great picture of Al's two favorite past times, we all know which one comes first...Right?

Al's wife really enjoys the car. Al says that if it were not for his wife and her check book, the car would still be sitting in the garage
Here, Al and Steve patiently wait their turn in line, creeping closer and closer to the starting line for the big show down.

The 1971 Chevelle Small Block (very high performance) and the stock Big Block 72 SS.
The two rookies finally approach the starting line with palms a sweat'n and knees a knock'n.

Both cars have now staged, aaaaaaaand the
y're off!

COME TO OUR NEXT MEETING OR CLUB EVENT IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO WON!!!
